Amanda offers tutoring in Critical Thinking, English Literature/Poetics, Public Speech, Writing, Reading. She also offers standardized test prep  for HSPT, SAT/ACT, & GRE. Clients can also book Homework Help sessions in any Humanities subject (history, social studies, etc.). Moreover, Amanda is a professional line editior and can help anyone edit a piece of writing they already have drafted.

How are Amanda's tutoring sessions structured?

Tutoring sessions are 1-2 hours long, weekly, and are personalized to the individual needs of each student. Classes focus on interactive learning activities. Typically, Amanda teachers her own English curriculum, helping students form logiaclly sound written arguments and learn how to produce any type of essay in response to any literature: novels, nonfictional prose, and poetry. That said, we read many classic texts to practice analysis and critical thinking. However, Amanda caters each student's curriculum to their personalized needs; thus, she also teaches grammar, reading, and writing for beginnners, increasing the difficulty as she sees fit. If need be, she offers Homework Help sessions in any Humanities subject (non-math or science courses) and can help with HSPT prep , SAT prep/College Personal Statements, School Applications, & Interview Prep as well.

Classes typically take place online via Google Meet. However, in person classes in the Bay Area are offered upon request.

This tactic allows Amanda to perfect each lesson specifically to the student so that they may feel confident in their thinking and writing. Amanda's main goal is to increase writing and critical thinking confidence so that her students will go on to participate in their classes at school with keen awareness and acute analyzing skills.
